- **About an [infiltrator](tl://techniques/infiltrators.html), not an [informant](tl://techniques/informants.html).** The infiltrator joined groups that they were not part of before the infiltration.
- **Long-term.** The infiltration lasted at least three months, throughout which the infiltrator maintained a consistent cover identity.
- **Targeting groups engaged in subversive activities.** This excludes infiltration targeting right-wing organizations, most political parties, and commercial companies.
- **In the 21st century.** All or part of the infiltration occurred after or during the year 2000.
- **Well documented.** There is a minimum amount of information available about where, when, and how the infiltration took place. Mere mention of an infiltration case in a news article or court document is not enough.
